RAWALPINDI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) apprehended the Drug Committee’s secretary – Dr Mohammad Ali – among seven pharmaceutical companies’ directors on Tuesday for procuring ‘commission’ that led to hiked prices of medicines.
NAB accuses the eight suspects on reaching an illegal settlement with various pharmaceutical companies to pocket money. According to NAB Prosecutor Sardar Muzaffar, the racket could not have functioned without leaning on the Health Ministry and that the companies have allegedly pocketed over Rs 1 billion.
The arrests were made in premises of a local court where all the eight suspects were presented and bail pleas of the alleged criminals have been turned down.
