ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said the government would ensure return of temporarily displaced persons (TDP) to their native areas with honour and respect.
He was talking to Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, governor- designated of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who called on him at the PM House. The prime minister said the entire nation in general and the people of FATA in particular, deserve due recognition for their support in the war against terrorism. He expressed the hope that the new governor will continue to work for the development and welfare of the people of FATA and KP. He said the government was committed and resolved to bring FATA at par with the rest of the country in terms of facilities. Nawaz wished Iqbal Zafar Jhagra well on the assignment.
The governor-designate thanked the premier for reposing trust in him by nominating him as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor and said he would continue the work initiated by his predecessor for improving conditions in FATA. Also, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Tuesday that the federal government will extend full support to the local government to undertake developmental projects in the capital and provide best facilities in its rural and urban areas.
Talking to Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Ansar Aziz, who called on him at the PM House, he expressed the hope that under his leadership the elected representatives of Islamabad will work hard for improved facilities for the people in the rural and urban areas of the capital. The prime minister said being the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad needs special attention and care. He regretted that the capital was unfortunately neglected in the past, which led to break-down and neglect of civic facilities. “We will restore the beauty of Islamabad and enhance the facilities to all residents of the capital,” Nawaz said.
Thanking the prime minister for his trust and confidence, Sheikh Ansar Aziz said he, along with the elected representatives of Islamabad, would implement prime minister’s vision of transforming the capital to a truly developed modern city.
